49th Nihon Kobudo Embu Taikai Held at Nippon Budokan / 日本武道館で第49回日本古武道演武大会開催

On February 1, the 49th Annual Nihon Kobudo Embu Taikai (Japanese Classical Martial Arts Demonstration) was held at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo. Approximately 200 practitioners representing 36 traditional martial arts schools from across Japan participated in the event, presenting demonstrations of various classical disciplines including jujutsu, kenjutsu, and karate.

Itosu-ryu Karate, a member organization of the Nihon Kobudo Association, also took part in this prestigious demonstration. The embu was performed by Soke Sadaaki Sakagami, together with Shihan Kiyoshi Kusuhara, Shihan Junya Kato, and Shihan Ayumu Oda.

Their presentation featured the kata Bassai Dai, partnered explanatory techniques illustrating the application and use of specific body mechanics, as well as demonstrations of throwing techniques.

Furthermore, Soke Sakagami was honored with the Martial Arts Merit Award in recognition of his many years of dedication and significant contributions to the promotion and preservation of traditional martial arts. 東京・日本武道館にて2月1日、第49回「日本古武道演武大会」が開催された。全国各地に伝わる36流派から約200名が参加し、柔術や剣術、空手術など多彩な演武が披露された。

日本古武道協会の一員である糸洲流空手も今回の演武に参加し、坂上節明宗家を筆頭に、楠原清誌師範、加藤淳也師範、小田歩師範の4名が演武を行った。

演武では、「バッサイ大」の形をはじめ、使用部位を解説する組手、さらに投げ技などが紹介された。

また坂上節明宗家は、長年にわたり武道の振興と保存に寄与した功績が認められ、古武道功労賞を授与された。
